Who We Are
WeFarmSA / We Earth FarmVision is a national farmer digitalisation and commercialisation platform created to support rural, small-scale and emerging farmers to become visible, organised, compliant, traceable, fundable and market-ready.
The platform is being developed through the TIA-supported We Earth FarmVision Project, supported by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), an entity of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), under the National Space Infrastructure Hub (SIH) framework.
Through this support, We Earth FarmVision is building a space-enabled agricultural platform that uses digital farmer profiles, GIS mapping, remote sensing, farm records, traceability tools and compliance monitoring to help farmers participate in structured agricultural value chains.
Why the Platform Exists
Many rural and small-scale farmers have land, farming experience and production potential, but remain excluded from formal markets because they do not have verified digital records, structured production support, compliance readiness, traceability systems, market access or proper aggregation.
This makes it difficult for buyers, funders, government departments and development partners to know which farmers are ready, where they are located, what they can produce, what support they need and how they can be linked to real market opportunities.

A core function of the platform is farmer registration and digital profiling. Each farmer can build a verified profile that captures important information such as location, land size, crop activity, farming history, infrastructure, water access, production capacity, compliance status, support needs and market readiness.
This allows us to understand:
- who the farmer is
- where the farm is located
- what the farmer is producing or can produce
- what land and infrastructure are available
- what risks or constraints exist
- what support is required
- what market opportunities the farmer can be aligned to
This information also supports alignment with the broader national farmer registration and profiling agenda, including the National Farmer Register.

Powered by the We Earth Space Hub model
Through GIS mapping, remote sensing and geospatial monitoring, the platform can help monitor farms, villages, production blocks, water resources, infrastructure, disaster risks and agricultural activity. The platform helps farmers build a traceable record of their farming journey over time. Through digital farm records, monitoring and reporting, farmers can begin to demonstrate their progress in relation to good farming practices, production activity, land preparation, input use, water readiness, crop management, compliance requirements and market preparation.
This is important because formal buyers, especially international buyers, need greater assurance that produce is linked to responsible farming practices, local standards and market requirements.
The platform strengthens trust between farmers, buyers, government and development partners by allowing produce to be linked back to verified farmers, mapped production areas and monitored farming practices.
Village Economic Node Model
Structuring farmers at village level into organised production blocks
Instead of farmers operating individually and informally, villages can be supported as coordinated agricultural production units. This makes it easier for government, institutions, suppliers, funders, buyers and technical partners to support farmers at scale, and helps villages become more productive, more organised and more ready to participate in structured markets.
Market Access & International Offtake
A major purpose of the platform is to connect local farmers to real market opportunities. We Earth FarmVision is working to secure international offtake opportunities that can be allocated to local farmers through the platform and the Village Economic Node model.
This means that farmers will not only be registered, but will also be supported to produce towards real demand. The platform helps match farmers with suitable crops, production support, technical partners, compliance requirements and market opportunities.
The intention is to ensure that local farmers can benefit from international market access while still supporting local food security, rural development and job creation.

We Earth Space Hub Ecosystem
The We Earth Space Hub ecosystem brings together space technology, agricultural intelligence, digital systems, field implementation and institutional partnerships.
The Space Hub supports the platform by helping to monitor land, farms, villages, water systems, production areas, climate risks and disaster-prone areas. It also supports the deployment of GIS practitioners and local teams who can assist with farmer registration, land mapping, data collection, monitoring and reporting.
The ecosystem brings together space agencies, research institutions, agricultural experts, universities, TVET colleges, municipalities, government departments and private sector partners into one agricultural implementation framework.

The platform is designed to create opportunities for young people, graduates, GIS practitioners, agricultural assistants, community workers and local implementation teams.
